Plastic Lead Seals are small plastic seals used together with sealing wire and sealing pliers to provide a simple, visible and traceable closure. They are a modern alternative to traditional lead seals, especially in environments where lead should be avoided but where the classic sealing principle of wire and crimped seal is still required.
The seal is applied by passing the sealing wire through the item to be secured and then through the plastic seal. The seal is then compressed with sealing pliers, locking the wire inside the seal. Once closed, the seal cannot be removed without leaving visible signs on the seal or the wire. The sealing pliers can also be fitted with engraved dies to emboss the seal with a unique mark at the time of closure.
The seals are made from polypropylene and are available in diameters of 8, 9, 10 and 12 mm. The different sizes make it possible to choose the right seal depending on the application, sealing wire and required level of visibility. Standard colours vary by size and include grey, orange, red, blue, yellow, green and white. Other colours are available on request.
Plastic Lead Seals are suitable for companies and organisations that need a simple and cost-effective control seal, for example within electricity, water, gas, transport, service, maintenance, warehousing, administration and technical inspection. They are especially useful where the seal is not primarily intended to act as a physical barrier, but to provide a clear indication that something has been opened, checked or handled.
